Cross-Cutting Themes
Social and Gender Inclusion
SoSec strives to improve the position of females globally. We have over 25 years of experience in offering advisory services and technical assistance to promote sustainable gender equality in both public and private organizations. We understand that if development is to effectively alleviate poverty, promote social equality, and contribute to economic growth, it should be undertaken as inclusively as possible.
Equality between women and men is not just a human rights issue. It is an economic one. Such equality offers great potential for economic growth and poverty reduction.
Drawing from a pool of readily available and dedicated social inclusion and gender experts, we provide fresh, innovative perspectives that go beyond income to include social risks such as discrimination, unequal distribution of resources and power, and limited citizenship. Our experts, who are adept at working in challenging environments, assist governments in turning policy statements on gender and social inclusion into actions that promote equality and inclusive growth.
Education
SoSec has been closely involved in developing and supporting the reforms of education systems in a wide range of transitional and developing countries in South Asia and Africa.
We have developed initiatives aimed at improving both the quality and financing of education, working with both governments and private donors. In addition, we have significant experience in education reform in difficult and conflict-affected environments. We have designed and supported major vocational education programs in India and Bangladesh, for example.
Monitoring and Evaluation
Use of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) tools is an important feature in the improvement of service delivery. M&E tools demonstrate results and help improve resource allocation. SoSec has a wide range of experience in all components of the M&E process. SoSec has extensive experience in establishing evaluation systems and conducting impact assessments. We bring together highly qualified experts in both quantitative and qualitative methodologies. These experts use groundbreaking techniques to improve participation in monitoring and evaluation systems, as well as provide rigorous and independent evaluation reports.
Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene
Water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services are essential to economic growth and public health. Global access to safe water, adequate sanitation, and proper hygiene education can reduce illness and death from disease, leading to improved health, poverty reduction, and socio-economic development. However, many nations struggle to provide these basic necessities to their people, leaving them at risk for disease. Governments, development partners, investment banks, and civil society are cooperating to close the financing gap for universal WASH access.
SoSec provides technical support to public and private organizations on WASH programs, targeting marginalized urban and rural communities. We design WASH adaptation and mitigation interventions in response to climate change. We also provide capacity building for government agencies responsible for the delivery of WASH programs at national and local levels. We conduct monitoring and evaluations studies for different WASH actors. These include mid-term, end-term, formative, and summative evaluations. A major part of our work involves promoting rights-based WASH approaches and providing wide ranging capacity building for WASH rights owners (beneficiaries) and duty bearers.
